Lunar New Year!
The pupils have had a fantastic time learning about Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year)!
Celebrating diversity is a fundamental part of your child's time here at Dunkirk. Learning about a diverse range of beliefs, traditions, opinions and history from different cultures is something that our pupils LOVE to do! It is a crucial part of their Knowledge and Understanding of the world curriculum as well as preparing them for when they begin their RE education in Year 1.
Pupils had so much fun mark making in our glittery Chinese tuff tray, developing their fine motor skills learning how to use chopsticks and threading spools to make a Chinese Dragon, expressing their creativity and joining skills by making their own Chinese Dragons and masks and developing their literacy skills by learning about and recreating the Zodiac Story. Pupils also developed an understanding and appreciation of how different cultures write by learning how to form Chinese characters.
Take a look at their fantastic learning in the photos below!
